Update (11/20): We’ve caught 298.159.864 Pokemon for the first 24h. It looks like we are behind the target, but as soon as we activate Stardust the pace will increase, and the numbers will go higher.
Previous Story (11/19): With the Pokemon Go Global Catch Challange, Pokemon Go Trainers have to catch 3 billion Pokemon in seven days, until November 26, to earn the Gold Reward.
Pokemon Go Trainers have three rewards to look forward to – Bronze, Silver and Gold reward, for catching 500 million, 1.5 billion or 3 billion Pokemon during this event.
Rewards are unlocked shortly after reaching each milestone and will last until December 1, 2017, at 1:00 PM.
- 500 million Pokemon (Bronze) – 2x XP, 6h Lure Modules and more Pokemon
- 1.5 billion Pokemon (Silver) – 2x XP, 2x Stardust, 6h Lure Modules and even more Pokemon
- 3 billion Pokemon (Gold) – 2x XP, 2x Stardust, 6h Lure Modules, Farfetch’d available worldwide for 48h and Kangaskhan in East Asia for 48h.
The numbers seem high, but it’s possible to catch 3 billion Pokemon and earn the Gold reward and here is why:
- Goal: 3.000.000.000 Pokemon divided 7 days is 428.571.529 Pokemon per day.
- There are 20 million daily active players, proximately
- So, it means that each Pokemon Trainer has to catch 22 Pokemon per day/150 a week.
So, Trainers, it’s possible! We just need to stay focused and get that Gold reward!

Hold on. The event started on the 20th and this article says it was made on the 19th. Does that mean we reached the 300 million mark at sometime on the 19th before the event actually began?
