Update 2/26: Bulbasaur is confirmed for March 25. Find out more here.
Previous Story: Pokemon Go Community Day event is something we’re going to be a part of every month and within a time period of three-hours, Trainers all around the world will have a chance to earn more XP, Stardust, and catch a special Pokemon with an exclusive move.
The first event went live on January 20, with players having a chance to catch special Pokemon Pikachu who can learn Surf as an exclusive move. In addition, during this three-hour window, players got a chance to earn x2 XP and Lures got activated for 3h.
The second Community Day event went live on February 24, and this time, Pokemon Go players had 3h to catch Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite and their shiny form – as the “Special Pokemon” and earn 3x Catch Stardust.
Now, it’s time for the #3 Community Day event in March, and it looks like this time we’re going to have Bulbasaur and its shiny form – as the “Special Pokemon.”
These findings have been reported by a Pokemon Go Trainer who goes by the name helloburkie on Reddit, where he also explains how he got this, saying:
“Checked image url for the current Dratini image and just changed the Pokemon name to others and realized the Bulbasaur actually existed.”
This can be good and so good at the same time. The good part is that we might get a chance to catch a shiny Bulbasaur, (which I don’t have, well none of us have one). The bad side is that Bulbasaur is not a very useful Pokemon, and what makes it even less interesting is its catch rate – it’s almost impossible to catch.
If this turns out to be true, I think that most players would go out just to catch shiny Bulbasaur, post it on social networks and go home. I hope this is not what’s going to happen, as it will take the wind out of the Community Day sails.
