The fifth in a row Community Day event in Pokemon Go is going live on May 19, featuring Charmander as the special Pokemon, 3x Catch Stardust, 3-hour Lures, exclusive move and shiny forms.
May’s Community Day will go live on the 19th, for 3 hours, 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM CEDT, featuring Charmander. So, you still have less than a week to start getting Charmander candies and hunt high IVs Charmanders or Charmeleons.
Today, as confirmed by Niantic, evolving Charmeleon into Charizard will learn an exclusive move – Blast Burn, with two bars and 100 damage. Check out the screenshots below.

A fully evolved Charizard can learn Blast Burn as an exclusive move. This move has identical stats to Frenzy Plant, the one that Venusaur could learn on the third Community Day. So if Niantic decides to match Blast Burn to Frenzy Plant, Charizard could replace Moltres as the highest DPS Fire Type Pokemon.
People do not like Fire Types as much as they should, but this could change. If Charizard becomes the highest DPS Pokemon in the game, it could be a great counter to two future Legendaries, Registeel and Regice.
This is also a wish come true for all of the players that love Charizard and want this Pokemon to get its spotlight in the game. You would like to have several Blast Burn Charizard because he will become the best fire attacker in Pokemon Go.
Now, the only thing left is the shiny forms and we expect to see them too. Their shiny forms will be familiar to many of you, and those who want to refresh their memory, here is how they look:
- Charmander shiny – Yellow;
- Charmeleon shiny – Yellow;
- Charizard shiny – Black.
Charmander’s and Charmeleon’s shiny form is not something special (well, for me), but that Black Charizard is something that we all want to have in our dex, and our wish will come true on May 19!
