Matt Slemon said: “We do want the experience to feel a little bit different past level 40 than it has felt up to level 40. So fundamentally getting a level 41 and beyond is still going to require effort. That’s really what levels are intended to display – is how much effort you put into the game. And so that effort economy is still very important to us. But it’s not going to be as simple as grinding XP through the ways that you might be used to. So the experience should be a little bit different, and we’re excited to announce more of that later this year.”

Now, let’s take a look at how much XP is needed to reach level 50. Also, we added the ‘Level Up Rewards.’

  1. What is the point of granting lucky eggs at lvl 50 when that is the supposed cap? Unless furthering cap to 60+, the lucky eggs are a ridiculous gift

    1. Keep in mind people thought the same thing about lucky eggs as a reward for reaching level 40 and here we are getting level 50. Who’s to say there isn’t more beyond 50?

    2. Who even gives a f*** about anything after level 38, seriously I’m sick of people posting dumb f****** s*** on the internet, nobody cares about anything past level 38 when you can Max out your CP, your all f****** m***** the levels don’t even matter. Find something better to talk about

      1. Nobody cares you say? Too many hardcore players grind for the sum of total XP, they reached 100M, 200M or even more, way long before this is announced. They just love seeing the numbers keep increasing, and that’s how they have enough XP when top level 50 will arrive. And you can power up the pokemon past level 40 tho

  2. This article makes the assumption that XP is still the only measure. With Ingress, leveling up required getting to certain levels and numbers of badges. This would be a lot better than simply using XP.
