Pokemon Go January 2021 Community Day Event

Update: Trainers, January 2021 Community Day event will bring Machop. The January 2021 Community Day event will go live on January 16, 2021, from 11 am to 5 pm local time featuring an increased spawn rate of Machop, its shiny forms, exclusive move Payback, and pay-to-play exclusive Special Research story called Straight to the Top, Machop. Those who purchase the ticket for the Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto event, will get this Special Research for free.

Previous Story: Trainers, so far, we have had 36 Community Day events, and every single one of them was a complete success. Soon, starting in January 2021, we will have a chance to participate in new Community Day events, catch new Special Pokemon, shiny forms, learn new exclusive moves, and earn cool bonuses.

Nothing is officially confirmed yet, but there are some rumors saying we will have Gen 5 Water-Type Pokemon, its shiny forms, 3-hour Lures and maybe 2x Catch XP during January 2021 Community Day event. Both 2019 and 2020 began with a Water-type Pokemon, so maybe this year will be no different.

Here is the list of Water-Type Gen 5 Pokemon:

  • Oshawott
  • Dewott
  • Samurott
  • Panpour (Regional)
  • Simipour (Regional)
  • Tympole
  • Palpitoad
  • Seismitoad
  • Basculin (No evolution)
  • Tirtouga
  • Carracosta
  • Ducklett
  • Swanna
  • Frillish
  • Jellicent
  • Alomomola (No evolution)
  • Keldeo (Mythical Pokemon, meaning we definitely won’t see it as CD Special Pokemon)

We do know that most of these Pokemon have only one evolution, which is not usual for any Community Day Pokemon, but who knows, we might see some changes next year. If they don’t, then we might see Oshawott or Tympole in January 2021.

We will put an emphasis on the following: nothing is officially confirmed yet, this is based on rumors and on our opinion.
