Pokemon Go The Best Ways to Use Your Rare Candy and Evolution Items

Even several years after its launch, Pokemon Go is still one of the most popular games on the market at the moment. Filled with many fun things to do, one of the most “puzzled” items are Rare Candies and Evolution Items.

Many are wondering when to use each of these, on what Pokemon, why and how. We are here to give you a helping hand and explain so that everything can become more clear. Be mindful, not everyone can agree that our way is the best.

Rare Candy. What is that? A Rare Candy is a type of Pokemon Candy that can be used on whichever Pokemon you desire. If you miss one or two Candies (for a certain Pokemon) you can use a Rare Candy as a substitute for the missing one. Beware, one Rare Candy is a substitute for one Pokemon (that you choose) Candy.

At the moment, Rare Candy is obtainable through Raid Battles, Field Research tasks, Special Research tasks, PvP, as rewards from GO Battle Leagues and as Adventure Sync Rewards. But not every battle, task and reward are guaranteed to give you a Rare Candy. This is why they are not so easy to get.

Because of how rare they are, we recommend that you only use Rare Candies to power up good Pokemon such as Legendary Pokemon, Mega Pokemon and other Pokemon that you do not have enough regular Candies for or the ones you do not get many encounters with.

An even rarer thing to get in Pokemon Go is an Evolution Item. These Evolution Items are used to evolve certain Pokemon species, and so far, there are seven Evolution Items in Pokemon Go. They are the following:

  • Dragon Scale
  • King’s Rock
  • Metal Coat
  • Sun Stone
  • Up-Grade
  • Sinnoh Stone
  • Unova Stone

Each one of the Evolution Items is rare in its way. You can get them through spinning a PokeStop, completing a 7-day PokeStop Spin Streak, as rewards from Research Breakthrough, and many other ways.

Pokemon such as Seadra, Gloom and Sunkern require an Evolution Item and a certain amount of Candies to evolve into Kingdra, Bellossom and Sunkern, respectively. So the best way to use an Evolution Item is when you have enough Candies, when you want to fill up your PokeDex, or when you have a Pokemon with good stats and you want to make it even more powerful.

Which Evolution Item is the rarest of them all? What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
