How to Defeat Primal Kyogre Pokemon Go?

Trainers, Primal Raids are now live in Pokemon Go and you now have a chance to battle and catch Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

The very first Primal Raids in Pokemon Go are going live on February 18-19, 2023 from 10 AM-6 PM during the Pokemon Go Go Tour Hoenn Las Vegas event. Both Primals will be available to battle and catch, so let’s see what are the best counters and how to beat Primal Kyogre in Primal Raids.

“Encounter Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon in Primal Raids during specific periods, beginning with Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas. Primal Raids are similar to normal Raid Battles, but the Pokémon you challenge will be more powerful than those you may have encountered previously.

Trainers will also have opportunities during both Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas and Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Global to complete Primal Surge Field Research, which may lead to increased opportunities to encounter Primal Kyogre or Primal Groudon in raids.

Ruby vs. Sapphire Challenge
As the earth and sea clash, which side will you stand with? All Trainers will be able to pick between a Ruby and a Sapphire badge. The team you pick will shape certain in-person Pokémon encounters!

Each hour, you can complete special Field Research on behalf of your team. Depending on which team completes more Field Research, all Trainers will see increased Primal Raids for either Primal Kyogre (Sapphire) or Primal Groudon (Ruby)—plus an increased chance of encountering additional wild Pokémon!

The badge Trainers pick at Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas will carry over to the global event the following weekend.”

Primal Kyogre Raid Counters

  • Kartana with Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade
  • Xurkitree with Thunder Shock and Discharge
  • Zekrom with Charge Beam and Fusion Bolt
  • Zarude with Vine Whip and Power Whip
  • Mega Scpetile with Bullet Seed and Frenzy Plant
  • Shadow Raikou with Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
  • Shadow Magnezone with Spark and Wild Charge

Primal Kyogre is weak to Grass and Electric type-attacks and beating Primal Kyogre will not be easy at all. It should take 4+ Trainers to successfully defeat it and eventually encounter and catch shiny Primal Kyogre. Yes, that’s right, Primal Kyogre can be shiny.

The next wave of Primal Raids featuring Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre will go live during the Pokemon Go Go Tour Hoenn Global event from February 25-26, 2023.
