Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Swings Past Milestones with Over 5 Million Sold

Sony’s latest superhero venture, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has soared past sales milestones, surpassing five million copies sold in just 11 days since its release. This notable achievement, revealed in Sony’s recent financial briefings, underscores the game’s swift capture of player interest and market dominance.

Released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on October 20, the game’s popularity hasn’t just sprung out of nowhere. It has followed in the web-slinging steps of its predecessor, Marvel’s Spider-Man, which set the earlier record for speed of sales. In comparison, Sony had previously announced that The Last of Us Part 2 hit a then-impressive milestone of four million copies in three days, a number that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has now swung past with ease.

The journey of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 began with a bang, selling 2.5 million copies worldwide in the initial 24 hours, marking it as the fastest-selling game from PlayStation Studios to date. It’s quite a leap, even in the often surprise-filled gaming industry, and reflects a continued trend in the popularity of superhero-themed content.

The original Marvel’s Spider-Man, developed by Insomniac Games, previously held a notable record with 3.3 million copies sold in its first three days. It set a high bar that its sequel has not only met but exceeded. This continued success speaks to the strength of the Spider-Man brand and the quality of the game itself, which has received widespread praise for its gameplay, narrative, and technological advancements exclusive to the PlayStation 5.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
