Pokémon GO Where is Mateo? NPC Misses Scheduled Debut

Trainers, there’s a bit of unexpected news regarding Mateo, the new NPC in Pokémon GO. He was supposed to start appearing in the game today, December 4, 2023, but it appears Niantic has missed the mark.

Mateo, the world-traveling researcher, was announced by Niantic as a new addition to Pokémon GO. His role? To meet players at the end of their Routes for a unique Gift Exchange, bringing a bit more fun to our Pokémon journeys. He’s all about sharing Postcards and Gifts from around the world, making every encounter with him a chance to expand your Postcard Book and catch different forms of Vivillion.

But, as of today, Mateo is nowhere to be found. Despite the announcement stating his arrival on December 4, one day before the Along the Routes event (December 5 to December 8, 2023), he’s missing in action.

So, what happened to Mateo? It’s a bit of a mystery. Perhaps a mix-up in dates or a technical glitch. Or maybe they meant Mateo to start spawning on December 4, 2023, at 10 AM PST? We’re keeping an eye out for any updates from Niantic.

In the meantime, get ready for the ‘Along the Routes’ event and the arrival of Shiny Hisuian Sneasel. And keep an eye out for Mateo – hopefully, he’ll be joining us on our Pokémon GO adventures soon.
