Avowed’s deeper dive video reveals additional gameplay details

In a recent 25-minute presentation, the directors of Avowed delved deeper into the intricacies of the game’s mechanics and shared insights into the game development team’s guiding principles. Carrie Patel, the game director, and Gabe Paramo, the gameplay director, hosted the ‘extended gameplay breakdown’ video.

The video is accessible on the official Xbox YouTube channel and starts with Patel discussing the quintessential elements that make the game a signature Obsidian creation. She emphasized the studio’s dedication to a player-focused role-playing experience, encapsulated in the motto ‘Your World, Your Way.’

This approach is manifested in the game by providing players with numerous opportunities to craft their unique identity, behavior, and challenges they wish to confront within the game’s universe.

The presentation also shows Shatterscarp, the game’s third area. Patel highlighted the game’s exploration aspect, noting that many quests are hidden and can be missed entirely if not discovered. Further, the video covers various topics, including combat dynamics, weapon choices, strategies for crowd control, the impact of elemental damage, the complexity of branching dialogues, and the role of companions in the gameplay.

Set in the same universe as Obsidian’s earlier RPG, Pillars of Eternity, Avowed, is scheduled for release in Fall 2024.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
