Ubisoft’s Free-to-Play FPS XDefiant Gears Up For Summer Launch

Ubisoft has been delivering some of the most successful franchises of all time. Now, they are set to unleash their latest offering, the free-to-play first-person shooter XDefiant. After an initial reveal in July 2021 and a promising series of closed beta tests, Ubisoft has officially announced that XDefiant will be launched this summer.

Before the grand launch, Ubisoft San Francisco, the game’s developer, will host a final open session from June 21 to June 23. The event aims to address some of the feedback from the closed beta and provide a platform for all players across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S to experience the game firsthand.

The most distinctive feature of XDefiant is its incorporation of factions from a wide range of Ubisoft’s existing franchises. Initially revealed under the Tom Clancy brand, the game featured groups from Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division. However, in March 2022, Ubisoft dropped the Tom Clancy branding and expanded its universe to include factions from a broader catalog of its intellectual properties.
