Why I didn’t receive the Showdown in the Shadows Team GO Rocket Special Research in Pokémon GO?

Trainers, the second part of the annual Halloween extravaganza is upon us, and you know what that means, Team GO Rocket is back in action. Not just back, but more formidable than ever with new Shadow Pokémon in their lineup. Oh, and there’s a brand new Special Research storyline in Pokémon GO too. Didn’t get it yet? Don’t fret, we’re here to break it down for you.

Arlo, Sierra, Cliff, and the nefarious Boss Giovanni are at it again, trying to take over our Pokémon GO world. Sure, they’ve brought some fresh Shadow Pokémon to the party this time, but let’s be real, they’re no match for us. Alongside this Team GO Rocket hoopla, Niantic has also rolled out a new Special Research called Showdown in the Shadows.

The Showdown in the Shadows Team GO Rocket Special Research comes in five steps, offering an array of tasks and rewards. By knocking this one out of the park, you’ll get to meet Phantump, Galarian Yamask, and Trick-or-Treat Gengar face-to-face. Sound good? We’ve cooked up a guide to help you navigate this, so feel free to check it out.

Why Some Trainers Haven’t Gotten the Special Research?

When a new Team GO Rocket event drops in Pokémon GO, some players wonder why they haven’t received the new Special Research yet. Here’s the deal, if the event has kicked off in your time zone and you’re still empty-handed, there’s likely a reason why.

So, if you’re midway through any of the Special Research stories listed below, you’ve got to clear the decks before new Team GO Rocket Special Research comes your way:

Remember that you can pick up the Showdown in the Shadows Special Research until the end of the Pokémon GO: Adventures Abound event, which runs until December 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
